RCB-3 Controller

DESCRIPTION The RCB-3 is a motor controller for smart house applications. The RCB-3 Controller is used in conjunction with 3 single phase reversible motors, each of which have a 120 VAC rating and a 3A maximum. A low voltage DC control bus is provided to simplify the external control wiring. This system is set up for easy interfacing with control computers or security systems.

The RCB-3 is a flexible system consisting of a relay module and optional logic modules. The relay board houses electromechanical relays, DC power supply and a universal header for interconnecting the logic modules.

The RCB-3, with relays only, is used in the simple installations. Momentary, or maintained switches can be used, depending on the control configuration: Momentary switches (with spring return to OFF) are required for paralleled controls to avoid conflicts. Otherwise, maintained two position switches are typical for this type of controls. The RCB-3 controllers with logic modules can be used for more complex installations. Use of momentary switches allows operation from multiple control locations. The M-31 logic module features master (group) controls only. On the other hand, the M-32 module allows master and individual controls. Control computers or security systems can interface with RCB-3 using 'A' Form dry relay contacts rated 0.1 Amps min.; one contact for each direction.

The Logic Modules interpret momentary control contact closures into various commands. For example, if the control buttons are depressed for about half a second, the logic will latch-in, and the motors will continue to run. Once running in this mode, depressing the control buttons momentarily will stop the motors. Miniature jumpers are also provided to reconfigure the logic for either vertical blinds, or the heavier drapes.
